Francis Ford Coppola Diamond Claret 2010 Bordeaux Red Blend...

One evening while relaxing in the garden I decided that the perfect way to "unwind" would be to have a bit of the vino while reading the newspaper. We had recently had quite a few events on our "social calendar' so it was nice to just hang out in the garden and listen to the fountain and birds.  So I went to cabinet and saw the unique bottle. You know, when you see it at the store, it has the wire covering the outside of it, and it has the distinct black and gold label. Seeing it I thought, let's give that one a try!

So, I brought it into the kitchen, opened it up and pured a nice robust glass of it. I say robust because, it is a long way from the sitting area in the garden to the kitchen. I didn't want to bring the entire bottle out, I guess I really could bring the bottle out, no one is really judging. Well something to think about in the future. At any rate, the immediate spicy nose and a bit of vanilla was so refreshing.

When I tasted it, the plum and berry taste was nothing short of AWESOME! There is a spicy flavor but as a back note. A cherry and currant flavor are also present and very nicely complimented by a very light oak finish. Just a truly WONDERFUL wine from start to finish! The coloring is deep and rich as well. With the blend of four grapes, it has a dark, dark, velvety red color.

Here are some notes from the winery:

"Claret has been the flagship wine of the brand. We use
several Bordeaux varietals in our blend—Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc, and Petit Verdot. Occasionally, we add Malbec as well, although this vintage we decided to leave it out. We harvest grapes from our own estate as well as other Napa, Sonoma
and El Dorado vineyards. This combination of climates results in great complexity and exquisite balance."

The winery has a great wine here. I am looking forward to trying some of their other varieties as well. The wine price was great also, it retails for about $16.99 a bottle.  This is a perfect wine to bring to any diner party or event you're invited to.

This wine definitely MADE "The Pig Jump Over the Moon"!
Try it and let me know what you think. Great price and a great wine!
